Don Bosco's Dream

This stained glass window depicts the dream of Don Bosco, in which he saw the Church represented by a ship, with the Pope at the helm. The Church was being tossed about by the rough waves. The Holy Father directed that the ship be ancored to the two pillars which rose up from the waters. Atop one pillar was the Eucharist, and Mary was at the top of the other pillar. Because of this, the Salesians have always held dear, our devotion to Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament and our love for Mary Help of Christians, as well as a strong dedicaiton to the Pope.

A New Rule of Life

This stained glass window depicts the first profession of the Salesian Sisters, which took place in Mornese, Italy on August 5, 1872. St. John Bosco wrote the first Constitutions for the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians, encouraging them to be a living monument of his gratitude to Mary Help of Christians.

The image is of St. John Bosco passing the newly written constitutions to St. Mary Mazzarello, the superior of the first community of Salesian Sisters, as Mary Help of Christians looks upon her daughters from above.

Coat of Arms

In the sanctuary of the chapel, there is a mosaic of the Salesian Sisters' coat of arms. Each symbol within the Coat of Arms signifies our history and mission.

M-A represents Mary, the Mother of Jesus, whose direct intervention brought our Congregation into existence.

In a literal Italian translation, the word forest is "bosco", thus the forest at the base represents our founder, Don Bosco.

The Anchor represents Hope,
the Star represents Faith,
the Heart represents Love.

Don Bosco’s infamous quote:
“Da Mihi Animas Coetera Tolle!”
is our founder's motto. Translated, this means, "Give me Souls...Take Away the Rest!"
